God: There is one God, eternal and self-existing in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. All of whom are to be equally loved, honored, and adored. God is the sovereign creator of all the heavens and the earth.
God Revealed: We believe that God has revealed himself to us in this world through the Bible—His Holy, inspired and inerrant Word—His creation, and, most importantly, in sending His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. This revelation in creation points all men and women towards our Creator God, but we believe more than this general revelation is needed. In the person of Jesus we find the one who himself, as both God and man, reveals to us God’s love, mercy, and grace.
Rebellion: We believe that all mankind participated in Adam’s fall from his original sinless state and that all live in rebellion against God. Sometimes this is more evident to us than at other times, but no one is “righteous”. All of us fail at the first two hurdles: one, we do not love God with our whole being, and two, we do not love our neighbors as ourselves. We need God’s forgiveness and a new heart if we are ever to see our lives turned around.
Jesus: As Christians, we have a person at the heart of our faith and his name is Jesus. When Christ died on the cross, he died in our place. He took on himself the punishment we deserved for our rebellion, and his death and resurrection dealt with our sin. By God’s grace and through faith in Jesus, Christians receive Jesus’s perfect standing before God. As God raised Jesus from death, so we see that our future is also to be raised from death (the death and separation from God that we deserved for our rebellion). Right now, Christ reigns as King over all. We look forward to his return and a new heaven and earth where rebellion will be gone and God’s peaceful rule will be established forever. Meanwhile, Jesus has sent his Holy Spirit to be with us day by day to help us live for him.
Theology: We are an evangelical church in the Reformed tradition and accept the Scriptures as the Holy, inspired and inerrant Word of God and the only infallible rule of faith and practice. We believe that Christ is the sovereign Lord over all, and that in His grace he uses His Church to further His purposes among people on earth. We are committed to the historic creeds of the Church and have our roots in the great truths of the Reformation. We accept the Westminster Confession of Faith as containing the system of doctrine taught in Scripture and follow the form of church government espoused by our denomination, the Presbyterian Church in America.
